Silvia Wilson

Sylvia started decorating cakes literally by accident. After a car accident which resulted in two broken wrists and lots of physical therapy involving sculpting with clay, she discovered fondant while watching a Food Network Cake Challenge. Her clay sculptures were quickly replaced by fondant edible figures and an extreme cake artist was born.

Sylvia entered her first competition in early 2008 and took multiple wins at the That Takes the Cake Show in Austin Texas. Her Golden Dragon sculpted cake was not only the Best in Division Winner, but also had the distinction of taking the Best in Show award. Several months later she entered and won the July 2008 National Wilton Romantic Cake Contest with her Circus Fun whimsical cake. These wins were followed up with first place entries at the 2009 Sugar Wonders' McKinney competition and a special award for Peoples' Choice. She also took 2009, 2010, 2011 first place and divisional wins at the Tulsa Sugar Art Show, a 2010 bronze win in the Oklahoma Wedding Cake Competition and repeat wins at the 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 That Takes the Cake Show in Austin Texas. Another Best in Show award was taken in 2011 at the That Takes the Cake Show in Austin, landing her on the front cover of American Cake Decorating Magazine. In 2011, she also had the opportunity of competing on Food Network Challenge Star Wars Cakes and, after winning the challenge, had the opportunity to recreate the cake at Disneyworld for the opening of the Star Tours ride.
